A luxury par 3 in Scotland

Whether an independent country or part of the United Kingdom, Scotland has plenty to offer the luxury traveller. It has breathtaking scenery, rugged coastlines, a proud culture, centuries of heritage and this year is the Year of the Homecoming – a year long programme of events and activities that shows off all that Scotland has to offer.
But Scotland is synonymous with golf. Scotland is the home of golf and has some of the best and most famous courses in the world and actually has more courses per population that anywhere else in the world. There’s Muirfield, Royal Troon, Carnoustie, Turnberry, St Andrews and of course, Gleneagles where the 2014 Ryder Cup will take place on the PGA Centenary Course designed by Jack Nicklaus.
Gleneagles
The Ryder Cup has become one of the truly not-to-be missed sporting occasions. Only a few will be lucky enough to get a ticket, even fewer, will enjoy a hospitality package whilst the very lucky few will get a private suite to have the ultimate spectator’s view. If you can’t get to the event, Gleneagles offers a limited opportunity to stay and play on the Ryder Cup course.
Gleneagles
It’s well worth going to Gleneagles any time though as it’s been voted the ‘Best Golf Resort in the World’ for the third consecutive year. The prestigious five star resort set in a scenic location in the heart of Scotland has a French chateau feel about it with elegant individually styled rooms and luxurious suites. The breakfast is legendary and you can dine in Scotland’s only 2 Michelin star restaurant. There are also 3 magnificent golf courses to keep you busy.
St Andrews
Perhaps the best known of them all and where every golf devotee must attend once in their life as this is known as the Home of Golf. The famous links courses including the oldest and most iconic, the Old Course, are located in a stunning coastal setting on the East of Scotland.
St Andrews
The Swilcan Restaurant in the Links Clubhouse offers excellent panoramic views over the Old Course, while the Castle Course Clubhouse is also worth visiting to have a drink and take in the views over St Andrews Bay.
Here you’ll also find the five star Old Course Hotel. A beautiful mix of old and new, the hotel has many luxurious facilities including a spa and rooftop hot tub and has fine dining experiences and cosy bars serving Scotland’s finest malt whiskies.
A wee dram
Why not combine two of Scotland’s greatest exports – golf and whiskey. Scotland has five distinct whiskey producing regions and superb golf courses in abundance in each. For example, the glorious area of Speyside not only has over half of all Scottish distilleries including GlenfiddichGlen Moray and The Balvenie, but also the excellent Dufftown and Elgin golf courses, as well as the classic links at Moray in Lossiemouth.
Glenfiddich
If you have the time, it’s worth making the effort to go to the island of Islay, off Scotland’s West Coast. Not only does its distilleries produce famous whiskies including Bowmore, Laphroaig and Ardbeg, but it has spectacular scenery, not more so than at Machrie Golf Links with views of the sand dunes and Laggan Bay.

Tempt your tastebuds at these October wine and food festivals in Paris and London

With October approaching and the days becoming shorter, food and wine enthusiasts will enjoy both the culinary delights and the festival atmosphere that are offered at two distinctive annual events – the Montmartre Grape Harvest Festival in Paris, and the London Restaurant Festival. Read on to learn more…
Montmartre Grape Harvest Festival, 8th – 12th October 2014
For a unique Parisian festival experience, the Montmartre Grape Harvest Festival, which takes place each year on the second weekend of October, is definitely worth a visit. The Clos Montmartre, just 16,000 square feet, and perched high on the hill of Montmartre, is one of the few vineyards left in Paris, and the festival is both a celebration of the wine tradition of the area, and the arrival of the new vintage. The harvest of Gamay and Pinot Noir grapes produces only about 1500 bottles of wine, which are for sale at the festival, with the profits going directly to local charities.
Grapes
Wandering from stall to stall, there is also wine tasting from other French suppliers available, as well as delicious regional food products for visitors to enjoy. Each year, a ‘godmother’ and ‘godfather’ of the festival are chosen from among France’s A-list celebrities, with this year’s choices being the actress Sandrine Bonnaire, and the singer, Jacques Higélin. There are art exhibitions, concerts, theatrical performances, street music, dancing and parades over the five days, with this year’s highlights including a poetry and music evening on the Wednesday, a gourmet walk during the day on Friday, and a ball on the Friday evening, as well as a Grand Parade on Saturday afternoon and a firework display around the Sacré Coeur on Saturday night.
London Restaurant Festival, 8th – 27th October 2014
From celebrating the wine harvest in Paris, to celebrating food in London, the London Restaurant Festival is a huge foodie affair, incorporating over 800 different London restaurants. The idea behind it is to raise the profile of the restaurants involved, as well as a general celebration of London’s amazingly diverse range of restaurants.
London Restaurant Festival
There are three elements to the festival. Festival Menus consists of specially created menus by the participating restaurants, and available to visitors throughout the festival. They are a great way for the restaurants to showcase their skills and for customers to discover and enjoy new restaurants. The second element comprises the Events , which are both numerous and original. They include the Champagne Laurent Perrier Gourmet Odyssey which takes diners to three top restaurants to sample a different course at each. Or you can take the Tapas Tour of London’s top tapas bars, or the Cicchetti Trails, where you can visit six of the best Italian restaurants for cicchetti in one day, with your unique LRF Cicchetti Trail passport. The third element is the Side Orders, the festival’s ‘fringe’ element, where individual restaurants can create activities with direct appeal to their own market, for example cookery demonstrations and tastings.
A particularly appealing event is the collaboration with BAFTA, where British portrait and fashion photographer, Rankin, will devise the menu for a dinner inspired by the Italian film, Cinema Paradiso. The evening will involve viewing the film, then enjoying a three-course dinner hosted by Rankin.

5 places to ‘pop the question’ in Napa Valley

Napa Valley is America’s wine capital and one of California’s top luxury travel destinations. It is also a splendid place to ‘pop the question’ to the love of your life. There are so many things to think about when you’re asking a person to marry you. Everything has to be right, especially the setting. But your (soon-to-be) spouse cannot help but say ‘yes’ when, on your next trip to wine country, you pull out the ring, drop perhaps to your knees and make your proposal at any of these Napa Valley hot spots:
Love Lock Bridge
In addition to the engagement ring, you may wish to bring a padlock to this bridge that leads to the Napa Wine Train, one of Napa’s top tourist attractions. Similar to other “love lock” bridges around the world, hundreds of couples have fastened a lock onto the fencing here, symbolically joining their love together forever. This makes it a nifty place to give her your pitch, present the ring and then put a lock on the fence for you both. Afterwards you can enjoy a romantic train ride into the heart of wine country.
Love Lock Bridge
Napa River Walk
The center of Napa Valley is the Napa River. The best place to see the river and get close to it is River Walk in downtown Napa. There, ideally perhaps on a warm evening with everything lit up, you can stroll along the riverfront with its shops, restaurants and sculptures. At the end of the promenade past Morimoto’s and the Napa Mill is a spot overlooking the river as it winds its way towards the bay. Snuggle up against the railing and follow your heart’s lead.
Napa Riverfront
Domaine Carneros
It is hard to go wrong with Champagne when you’re making a move that will change your life—and hers—forever. A bit of the bubbly will put her in the right spirits and add some steel to your backbone. One of the best places to drink champagne (or sparkling wine) in Napa Valley is Domaine Carneros, the Carneros area winery founded by the Taittinger family of French Champagne fame. Ask for a table on the patio overlooking the vineyards. Order two glasses of, let’s say, Le Reve Blanc de Blanc. The setting, the drinks, the person you love—everything is right. The rest is up to you.
Domaine Carneros
Yountville firefighter’s statue
Once a sleepy little farming town, Yountville has become a not-so-sleepy dining paradise with a galaxy of top tier restaurants such as Bistro Jeanty, Bottega, Bouchon, The French Laundry, Redd and more. So go to one of these eateries (assuming you can get a reservation) and have a nice, romantic dinner with your beloved. But don’t ‘pop the question’ just yet; she may have an inkling that something is up because of all the trouble and expense you’ve gone to this evening.
Fire fighter, Yountville
Instead, take a stroll after dinner on Washington Street to Van De Leur Park, a tiny sliver of green that’s an easy walk from most any restaurant in town. The park has sculptures and pretty flowers and in the center is a fountain that pays tribute to Yountville’s fire fighters. Now, at this spot in the quiet of the evening, surprise her.
Bar at Andaz Napa
The Andaz Napa is a stylish boutique hotel that is part of the nightlife revival going on in downtown Napa. It is close to the riverfront scene (which throbs with music and people on a happening Friday or Saturday night) and is a good jumping off point for exploring the wineries up valley on Highway 29. The hipster-ish cocktail bar in its front lobby is also a swell spot to ‘pop the question’. After she says yes, you two go out and maybe hear some live music in town as a future married couple.
Andaz Napa bar
Then again, there is another option. After she says yes, the two of you catch the elevator upstairs to your room. The hotel’s spacious marble walk-in showers easily fit two people. Imagine you’re in the middle of a tropical downpour and well, you can take it from there. Of course, if she says “No” to your proposal, the Andaz bar is still the right place to be. You’ll need a good stiff drink if that happens. Order one, and better make it a double.

Top 10 African adventures

Those seeking adrenaline inducing fun on their next holiday should turn their eyes to Africa, a continent renowned for the marvels and mysteries it still hides. From some of the most memorable wildlife encounters, to adrenalin fuelled activities at Victoria Falls, the below activities are ones every thrillseeker should try.
Walk with the cheetahs in Namibia
Though Okonjima Lodge in Namibia has varied action-packed packages available, there is no feeling comparable to the one you’ll experience as tawny eyes meet yours across the plain on a cheetah trekking adventure. The on-site cheetahs are part of a rehabilitation programme which you can view before they’re released into the surrounding wilderness. Leopard viewing and cub viewing in season is also offered, though they are quite people-shy and sightings of them cannot be guaranteed. The luxurious African lodge offers camp sites, thatched rooms and villas that were created with privacy in mind and are relatively spacious. You can hear the wildlife calls at dusk, after a decadent dinner at the restaurant.

Experience the towering sand dunes of Namibia
The impressive towering sand dunes are one of the highlights of any Namibian holiday, and Soussusvlei Desert Lodge has far more than their fair share of stark desert beauty. Picnics amid the desert dunes are perfect for those who prefer a sedate stay, though quad biking, hikes, and bike excursions are one way to experience the surreal landscape at an action-packed pace. The Soussusvlei Desert Lodge is quite secluded which is ideal for star gazers and those seeking romance; at night you can enjoy lantern-lit dinners on the veranda or amongs the dunes, and during the day you can take a dip in the spring-fed swimming pool.

After your flight, you can enjoy a champagne breakfast on the ground as your review the photographs taken. Reach the dizzy heights of Table Mountain
When you come to South Africa’s Mother City, it would be wrong not to pay homage to its defining feature; the majestic Table Mountain which is one of the new 7 wonders of the world. The incredible Victoria Falls has been commented on by visitors since the 18th century, and what better way to view it’s thundering majesty than from above? Take a helicopter flight with Flight of the Angels after you’ve settled into your suite at the Royal Livingston Hotel. The company flies with an open door, so passengers can make the most of the awe-inspiring views, and wildlife sightings are also possible. After the flight, return to the Royal Livingstone Hotel and head to the sun deck to enjoy lunch with a view of the Zambezi river.

Go stargazing in Zambia
The Luangwa River is considered to be the life force of the valley, with hippos and antelope, elephants, bush buck and lions visiting it in the dry winter months. For a wildlife experience combined with luxurious camping and star gazing, Luwi Bush Camp, set along the riverbed of south Luangwa, is ideal. Not only do they have abundant wildlife sightings in winter, but star gazing is unrivaled here, due to the lack of surrounding ambient light. The rustic charm of the camp sites is tempered with various luxury amenities.

Tanzania’s top 5 Great Rift Valley safari camps

The Great Rift Valley, which runs through Africa is a magical thing – populated by huge escarpments, vast lakes and beautiful vistas it is usually a hit list on anyone’s itinerary when planning to visit East Africa. Tanzania has a wonderful portion of the Great Rift Valley which is absolutely breathtaking, including Lake Manyara which is famous for it’s huge herds of elephant, buffalo and magical bird life. Here you can either base yourself from Lake Manyara, looking up at the dwarfing escarpment or from up on high, looking down at Lake Manyara and the wilderness that surrounds it – both are sensational. Here are top five Great Rift Valley Views:
Ngorongoro Crater Lodge
Although not strictly in the Rift Valley this luxury lodge is the perfect stop on your way to or from Lake Manyara. It is set in the world’s only caldera that is still intact (610 metres deep). Protected within the Crater rim is endangered black rhino, large tusked elephants, black-maned lions and flamingoes – all of which wander freely in this natural animal sanctuary. While cheetah move in and out of the Crater, leopards are often spotted in the Lerai Forest nearby. Ngorongoro Crater lodge has spectacular views of the Crater with it’s fresh springs and huge soda lake. As you look over the wilderness guests will be able to see the Maasai herdsmen graze their cattle. This is one of the highest resident game densities in Africa and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site; it is regarded a one of the most stunning and sophisticated destinations to stay.
Ngorongoro Crater Lodge
Maramboi

5 reasons to choose Southern Tanzania

Southern Tanzania is so often overlooked in favour of the more famous Northern Circuit. This is such a shame – the game viewing in Southern Tanzania is far more rewarding and you can see some incredible sights here, and it’s more than likely you’ll be on your own. Southern Tanzania is one of the best safari options for those that truly want to get off the beaten track and experience things that no one else has. Here are our top five reasons to visit Southern Tanzania over Northern Tanzania (in no particular order!):
The lodges and camps
Thanks to the sheer remoteness of Southern Tanzania’s Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park the luxury safari lodges and camps which reside here are often in some of the most dramatic and breathtaking locations one can possibly imagine. One thing is for sure, they are always extremely remote. Most are located near rivers or lakes which brings game either into or around camp. The feeling of being out in the wilderness really is complete here and you will feel as if you are at the ends of the earth.
Sand Rivers Selous room
The close proximity to other places
Now this point may seem extraordinary when teamed with point one but the Selous and Ruaha are logistically incredibly easy to get to, both are just a short flight from Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar which also means your Southern Tanzania itinerary is always completely seamless, with no long waits at airports or expensive internal flights – this in turn leaves you a little more to spend on your luxury lodges and camps, and means often you can leave the UK the night before, and be in the middle of no where by brunch the next morning.
The wildlife
There is abundant wildlife in both the Selous and Ruaha and those who go down there expecting not to see anything will be pleasantly surprised. The game viewing is exceptionally rewarding as often you will have to really look for the game by tracking or by using the noises of the bush to locate predators and big game. As a result the guiding in Southern Tanzania is also better.
View of hippos from Sand Rivers Selous
The options
Unlike Northern Tanzania (much of which is National Park) you are allowed an certain freedom in Southern Tanzania which means you can walk, take boat safaris and night drives and simply just explore the bush anyway you like. Most of the properties also offer fly camping which is by far the best way to get out into the bush and really experience Africa at its’ best, with the stars above you and the African noises around you. Freedom is what Africa is all about and in Southern Tanzania you have it in spades.
Boat safaris on the Rufiji River
Fly camping in Southern Tanzania
The lack of people
All of the luxury safari lodges and camps are spread far and wide across Ruaha and the Selous, meaning that you very rarely see another soul – your game viewing is completely exclusive and this is what makes a safari experience here so special – the icing on the cake.

7 secret safari experiences in Africa

Africa may be having a tough time of it of late, but the continent is a pretty big place, with some pretty fabulous corners that are rarely explored. One of the main attractions remains the unparalleled wildlife, so if you want to trump your friends in the ‘obscure destinations visited’ stakes, try these secret safari classics out for size.
1. Liuwa Plain, Zambia
Way out west towards the Angolan border, the expansive grasslands of Liuwa Plain in Zambia are remoteness personified thanks to total inaccessibility (except by boat) for eight months of the year. In the intervening four months a distinct lack of bump-free and sign-posted roads help keep many more curious types at bay so the truly intrepid explorer who makes it to Liuwa is rewarded with one of Africa’s last true wilderness regions. Liuwa is home to vast numbers of wildebeest, zebra, tsessebe, red lechwe, oribi and steinbuck, eland and buffalo, with attendant predators usually in hot pursuit. The birdlife is also out of this world.
Liuwa Plain
2. Mahale Mountains National Park, Tanzania
The conventional image of a safari park tends to be one of vast open savannah grasslands, with animals roaming as far as the eye can see, but many of Africa’s best national parks are actually in dense tropical jungle. Exhibit A: Mahale Mountains National Park, which is not only cloaked in thick forest, but chucks in a few steeply sloped peaks for good measure. The key attraction here is a habituated troop of chimpanzees who live on the steep mountain slopes. If you are lucky enough to find and sit with them for a few hours, it’s one of the most magical wildlife experiences imaginable.
Mahale National Park
3. The Waterberg, South Africa
Madikwe is now on the radar for savvy safari-seeking families thanks to its proximity to Johannesburg and the absence of malaria, which means small children and pregnant mums avoid the need for malaria tablets. Less well known, but equally wonderful, is the Waterberg, a mountainous UNESCO Biosphere Reserve with superb family-friendly lodges and the ideal place for the kids to ride as there’s game, but none of the biggest beasties to frighten the horses.
The Waterberg
4. Gonarezhou National Park, Zimbabwe
It’s only a matter of time before the floodgates open and the hordes return to Zimbabwe, a country that was once the undisputed best Southern African safari destination. The legendary Hwange and Mana Pools National Parks are already experiencing a big year on year rise in visitors but another park in the south, Gonarezhou, is still flying firmly under the radar despite some staggeringly beautiful scenery (think dramatic ridge lines) and guides every bit as good as those in the better known parks. Get there before everything changes.
Gonarezhou National Park
5. Ankarana National Park, Madagascar
Madagascar as a whole is pretty much off the beaten track, but well, well worth exploration. As anyone with young children will know this is the home of the lemur (all together now with the theme tune from the movie Madagascar ‘I like to move it, move it’), but the country is home to some of the most astonishing landscapes, as well as beasties. Ankarana National Park has the requisite lemurs, a huge bat-filled cave and bizarre tsingy rock formations.
Ankarana National Park
6. Odzala-Kokoua National Park, Congo
Congo should not be mistaken for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), its neighbour from hell and a huge basket case of a country which has been in a state of civil war for almost all of the last 18 years. Congo, on the other hand, is famous for something altogether more positive – having by far the largest population of Western Lowland Gorillas anywhere in Africa. These beautiful and endangered animals are found in relatively large numbers in the vast Odzala-Kokoua National Park (like 3.3 million acres vast) which is also home to bizarre Forest Buffalo, Golden Cats and, some say, lions.
Odzala Kokoua National Park
7. Katavi, Tanzania
Back to Tanzania and back to the west for a more conventional savannah style set-up, namely Katavi National Park. Why does Katavi make the list? Because of one simple statistic – the park apparently receives fewer visitors in one year than the Serengeti does in one day, yet has greater wildlife concentrations than any other park in Tanzania. Sold.

Northern Serengeti: see the Great Migration in luxury

September and October are two prime months to witness the great migration as it passes into and out of the northern Serengeti, Tanzania into the Masai Mara, Kenya. The uninterrupted, vast, undulated landscape of the northern Serengeti—this is African wildlife country. When the migration heads up and back down, everyone wants to experience the world’s most impressive wildlife show. Now with these luxury accommodation options in the northern Serengeti, you can watch this wildlife show all in pure luxury.
The Serengeti is outstretched—there is more than enough space for a few speciality lodges and luxury camp grounds. And trust the Serengeti experts for having placed these unique lodgings at just the right places: secluded from the tourist crowds yet very close to the wildlife migration routes. The Lamai Serengeti Nomad Camp is an acclaimed luxury facility in northern Serengeti. Nomad Tanzania tells about their prime site with panoramic views looking out onto the Serengeti, and their lodge accommodation has made the most of this dramatic setting. Fine dining, bar and swimming pool—with the big luxury of remoteness and a true wilderness experience—all in comfort and style.
Lamai Serengeti
On the banks of the Grumeti River (a wildlife magnet of course), the Serengeti Migration Camp is not only an enviable spot to watch wildlife and the great migration, but it is a place to do so in five star luxury. The Serengeti Migration Camp adds a new dimension to camping as you know it, because this is total and utter lavishness. Elevated on stilts, these tents hardly resemble the status quo of camping. Furnished bedrooms with a veranda and view all-round give you the best opportunity to view passing wildlife without moving a muscle. The luxury tents are cleverly designed to fit right in with the Serengeti environment, while the main camp facilities include a swimming pool and restaurant—all designed and equipped with luxury as the central feature. It’s an award-winning luxury facility, including Certificates of Excellence from Trip Advisor for consecutive years 2013 and 2014.
Serengeti Migration Camp
Small and intimate cottages with every luxury you can dream of—24hour electricity to super comfortable furnished armchairs—this is high-end northern Serengeti and the &Beyond Klein’s Camp is another outstanding option available to safari goers. Klein’s Camp is private and remote, yet its magnificent setting overlooking the Serengeti Valley offers the best opportunity for watching wildlife, from the comfort of the camp. Of course you can roam beyond the camp (they even offer helicopter trips for real migration viewing!). Klein’s Camp is one of a kind and you can count on the best service and luxuries around, with the great migration right at your feet.
Klein's Camp
Lemala Kuria’s location in the Wogakurya Hills next to the Mara River should already tell you this: this lodge is in the main center of wildlife activity. Now add to that all-important fact, the lodge’s luxury accommodation including ten permanent luxury ensuite tents and a ranking among the northern Serengeti’s finest and most luxurious accommodation offerings, and you have a winner. Lemala Kuria’s tented accommodation is designer accommodation, with huge glass front faces giving you beautiful views over the Serengeti. Its eco-friendly too, as the luxury units have largely been built using local and sustainable material. With restaurant, room service and even wifi, this is total glamping in the northern Serengeti.

Serengeti Bushtops
Bushtops is all about privacy, luxury, wildlife and personal service, with a tent serving as your very own top-notch hotel suite. Some reckon the service at this bushcamp is superior even to a high-end resort or lodge — hence why you should not be overlooking the so-called camping site. Bushtops Serengeti Camp is a stone’s throw away from the Mara River, guaranteeing wildlife migration action right where you are.
With the Serena stamp of quality, book a luxury camp at the ‘place of the klipspringer’ or the mbuzi mawe, nestled under granite towers that tell tales of ancient earth. As experiencing the migration is the greatest desire of everyone setting foot in the Serengeti, the Mbuzi Mawe Serena Camp has taken your desire to heart and developed their camp in close proximity to an important wildlife migration route within the Serengeti National Park. It’s crowded with wildlife during migration times—but it will not be crowded with tourists as the Mbuzi Mawe Serena Camp only offers accommodation to an elite few. Mbuzi Mawe is cleverly placed away from well-known tourist routes, giving you the perfect opportunity to escape into the African Serengeti. If you are lucky enough to book in at one of Mbuzi’s 16 luxury tents, you are surely in for a treat with first class dining and service, all under the majestic African sky.

5 Las Vegas experiences you won’t want to miss

Viva Las Vegas! What a city. I’ve been once in my life. Some would say that’s once too many, but no doubt they’re imagining scenes from The Hangover! Are they right though? Is Vegas really that one dimensional? I decided to consult with one of our insiders, a lady by the name of Amy Firmani. A Vegas local, Amy owns a vacation rental in Bermuda Springs, a quiet residential area south of the Strip. She opened my eyes. Here are the 5 experiences not to miss in Vegas, as told by a bona fide Vegas insider (and note that gambling and getting married do not feature!).
Welcome to Vegas
OK, this may be a cliché. But Caesars is an icon. Rebuilt and rebuilt, but still so classy. Great pools, great events, great rooms, great mall… just a fun place to visit. Head over to the spa or salon for treatments (the spa is just beautiful, with saunas and pools). Pay for a day pass, workout in the heavenly gym and then relax in a sauna. That is a good day! We also enjoy the mall and then a bit of people watching at one of the open air restaurants.

2. Shark Reef followed by lunch at Mandalay Bay
Well, this is off the beaten path! But so worth the trip. It’s done Vegas style: OVER THE TOP! The glowing jellyfish are just cool. And to see the sharks swimming over and under you… love it! Head over to the little Mexican café and sit outside for a great lunch or dinner after – it makes for a great way to spend a few hours.

So many shows and they are so expensive. How do you decide which one to go to? While we can recommend a long list, this one stands out. It left us in awe. It was beyond amazing and something everyone should see. Acrobatics, synchronized swimming, diving. And all set around water and the concept of infinity. This is really only something you find in Vegas so go book your tickets!

4. Visit Red Rock at sunrise or sunset
Just 30 minutes west of the strip, Red Rock is special. It is a wonderful place to climb and hike, but to see the sun rise and light up the rocks like fire… it will take your breath away. It is spectacular. But if you can’t get up at 5am then grab some snacks, prepare a picnic and head out for sunset. To see the red rocks light up and then the shadows take over, this is also quite amazing. Take an extra drive to Bonnie Springs to the see an old western town if you can.

5. For the thrill seekers!
There are tons of great choices and we’re only scratching the surface with these 3 choices. First up is theVoodoo Zipline between the Rio towers, where you’ll hit speeds of 33 mph at 450 feet in the air! If zip lining isn’t your thing, try the High Roller Ferris Wheel – at 500 feet in the air it’s the world’s largest observation wheel. Or, for something truly “only in Vegas”, why not try driving a bulldozer over at “Dig This”.
Thrill seekers
So there you have it. Yes I could see one of the guys from The Hangover wreaking havoc on the Strip with a bulldozer! But Amy has given us a more balanced view, an insider’s perspective. This is not just party town!
